Scavenger Hunt Sunday: October 28, 2012

Five Words.
Seven Days.
GO!

Pattern
We participated in Community Roots Day yesterday!  Pattern and machine were both photographed during the project.  Read more about our day here.

Machine
“A tool is but the extension of a man's hand, and a machine is but a complex tool. He that invents a machine augments the power of man and the well-being of mankind.”
Henry Ward Beecher

Sign
So funny, these birds hang out in the sign at the entrance of a shopping center.  They must have a next inside, they hop in and out and are there most mornings.

Rocks/Stone
Our visit to Kernersville Lake Park

Sparkle
This photo does not do it justice, but the sun was literally sparkling off of the water.

SOOC Sunday

I'm a sucker for manipulation, but there's something about a shot that's perfectly SOOC (Straight Out of the Camera).  Here are my best photos from this week, with nothing more done than a little cropping... maybe not even that!

An autumn sunset.

What an amazing sight!  I wrote about it here (and in that post the photo was altered a bit for contrast), but this photo here is strictly SOOC.

Another photo that I've manipulated for other hunts, but even SOOC it's enough to make you take a double-take!

Skywatch Friday: Rainbows of Color and Through the Trees

Smack dab in the middle of Autumn, our skies are taking on amazing color.
These photos do not do justice of the colorful sight I saw!

Taken at sunset on Tuesday, this photo was a rainbow of color poking through the clouds.
And this one, taken on Wednesday as the sun was rising.

For me, this one is more about the building than the sky, but how could I not share?  Do you see it?  Go here to see what you're looking for...

Please take a moment and explore views from across the world!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday, Oct.21, 2012

Having been without a camera for waaaaay too long, I am so happy to be back!
Most of you will understand,
Without a camera, I felt as if I was living with one lung.
I'm back up to the proper number of lungs, and with that we'll proceed straight to

Orange or Pink
These gourds, carved to look like jack 0'lanterns, are handcrafted by Gourd O' Lanterns of Walkertown by Hersch and Carol.  If you live in the Piedmont Triad and are interested, learn where to find them here.

Faceless Portrait
My older daughter is a tree climber.  Fanatically so.  A main reason we bought this house was because it has good climbing trees.  As a matter of fact, during our search for a house, we would drive to one first, and if it didn't have good climbing trees we wouldn't even ask to see the inside.
"Climber" is a good definition of who she is at age 8.

View From the Top

These mushrooms are growing rampantly through a good part of my front yard.  This is them from the top ^  They're growing through the needles that are rapidly dropping from the pine tree.  There are also lots of typically shaped mushroom, with the wide, flat top.  Should I be worried that my front yard is full of mushrooms?
If they need to go, what's the best way to get rid of them?

Cozy
To avoid having her hair combed after her bath, my youngest ran off.
Must have been cozy under there!

Stacked
The stacked business cards of a vendor at a Fall Festival I attended yesterday.  I love her organic t-shirt supporting Indie entrepreneurs!

Did you participate in the scavenger hunt?
Please leave a comment along with a link to your page and I'll be sure to stop by!
I love to see the interpretations... sometimes I feel as I'm stretching it with my interpretation, but that's all a part of the game, isn't it?

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: Oct.14, 2012

It's been so long since I've done a photo scavenger hunt!  I was so excited that I didn't realize until today that I've been working on last week's list! Because of that I can't link up, but I'll still post my pics and get to work on this week's list...

Care to join me?

Water Drops or Water Flowing
It rained the first day I began working on the list.  These are the wind chimes outside my entry door.

Faithfulness
A little odd for Faithfulness, I'll agree. But these little birdies are here each morning, faithfully greeting the people entering and leaving the shopping center of which this sign marks.  This is a big sign, and the birds sit way up.  I wonder how many people have even noticed them?

Then and Now
Again, I'm taking a little bit of liberty with the topic.  This image captures the BB&T Financial center on the left, and 100 North Main Street (formerly the Wachovia center, now also known as the Wells Fargo Center). Both BB&T and Wachovia banks were founded in Winston-Salem, NC and their roots run strong.  BB&T was founded in 1872, and Wachovia in 1879.

Fingertips
Taken from my archives, I think this is before she realized how to make a ♥ with her hands.

One Item from the Fall Bucket List: Bake Cookies
We spent Sunday afternoon baking, frosting and sprinkling sugar cookies.  Yum!

See you on Sunday!

Skywatch: BB&T Financial and Wells Fargo Centers, Downtown Winston-Salem, NC

I love this shot I got of the BB&T Financial and Wells Fargo Centers in Downtown Winston-Salem. After a morning of heavy rains, the skies were fabulously Carolina blue with huge billowing white clouds.

Justice

Justice does not come from the outside. It comes from inner peace.

This photograph was captured at Mt. Gur Cemetary in Kernersville, NC.  You can read more about my visit  here.
