You Never Know Where You'll End Up

Now here's an interesting link-up.  My Royal Blue treasury that I included on this blog  July 24 has been featured on Cool New Gadgets, a blog about cool new gadgets and Apple stuff.  Not sure of the relevancy, but I do appreciate being included!

New Etsy Application: Etsy on Sale

Have you seen it, have you seen it?!  There is (finally) a new application for Etsy that allows you to put your shop items on sale!  If you haven't seen it yet, check it out at etsyonsale.com.  As you'll see, this new site not only gives you the tools you need to have a sale within your own shop, it's also a shopping site with all of Etsy's sale items in one place.  This, my friends, is totally awesome.   

The process is really easy.  Simply go to etsyonsale.com and click on "sellers".  You will have to sign in through a Google acoount, if you don't have one, sign up for free here.   The app will ask you your shop name, and then direct you to the Etsy website itself, where you will approve the interaction.  If you have questions about why this is necessary, read about it in this Storque article.    Once you have connected to your store, you can easily set a start date and time and an end date and time.  You choose whether to mark your merchandise down by a dollar amount or percentage, and then specify that number.  And you also pick which sections to mark down, or have a store wide sale.   Unfortunately, you cannot "sale" specific items, but you you can easily get around that by putting sale items in their own section, and marking the whole section down.  You'll notice on your Dashboard that you'll receive a dedicated public shop sales page-- perfect for announcing sales on your website, Facebook fan page, or tweeting.

If it weren't for this new app, I probably would never have a sale, especially a store wide one.  I've done store wide price adjusting one time, and with over 200 items in my shop, it took me two days to complete.  I'm happy to say that I have my first sale set up for this weekend!  In honor of October 10, 2010 I'm having a 10/10/10 sale... 10% for each ten, for a total of 30% off every item in my shop this weekend only.   My sale will start Friday at 12am, and end Sunday 10/10/2010 at 10pm.  Here's a screen shot of my sales event edit page.

Quilted Ball Ornament by Creations by Angel

This week's Pounce Monday features a handmade quilted ball ornament by Creations by Angel, an artist in Portland, Oregon.  I love what she says in her profile: 
"I have been a creative and artistic person since I can remember. As a young girl I loved drawing and sketching and always seemed to have a crayon or colored pencil in my hand. Over the years my interests in creating have changed and diversified. I have gone from drawing, to stamping and paper crafting, to cross-stitching and knitting, and after college I began really focusing on working with fabric and making quilts. Needless to say it has been a match made in heaven ever since. Crafting and creating has always been very relaxing and was my outlet from my very demanding corporate sales career. After many years in the same industry I found myself successful but unhappy because I wasn't really following my dreams and passion. Now, thanks to a very supportive family and a great group of friends I have been able to finally follow my dreams and do what I really love."

She also includes a matching gift box, bow and gift tag with the purchase of the ornament!  This is a really cute item for the hearth or tucked into the corner of a bookshelf, adding a colorful Autumn flair.

Two-Sided Fall Harvest Mantle Runner by Creations by Angel

Speaking of the hearth, she's also got a Fall Harvest Mantle Runner available.  I love the soft, muted fall colors, and there's a surprise!  This is a two-sided runner, with a fun Halloween theme on the back!  Love it!

Fused Glass Ornament Fish by GerardotArtz

Next up is GerardotArtz, a mixed media artist from Fort Wayne, IN.  Her shop features colorful purses and paintings, but what first attracted me are her fused glass pieces!  I love this beautiful fish sun catcher! 

And her handbags are no less than amazing, especially when you learn that she designs and dyes the silk herself, then fuses it to the denim, strip piecing it to the component.  She then lines it and signs it, and she uses no pattern!  The bags are fun and colorful, one of a kind... and have a real personality.  Each bag is named, and I love that the artist refers to the handbag as "she".
